On Thursdays, from March 2nd, there will be a yoga class at the Cotswold Community Centre in Shirehampton. The class starts at 10.00am and finishes at 11.30, cost is £7. Mats are provided but feel free to use your own. This class involves practising poses to develop strength, stamina and flexibility. We also do some breathing exercises and relaxation. If you haven’t done yoga before but want to give it a go, this would be an ideal class for you. However, you will still find this class provides an opportunity for you to work hard and develop your practice if that’s what you want to do.
From March 2nd there will also be a Thursday night class at Seamills Community Centre. This class will give you a bit of a workout! The class will start with a gentle warm-up, then we’ll practice a few poses before putting them together in a flowing sequence. After that we’ll focus on developing flexibility before doing some relaxation.
Already running on Friday mornings at the Seamills centre is a slower-paced class, similar to the class that will start at the Cotswold centre.
At all classes equipment is provided but please use your own mat if you prefer. Blocks are also available, they’re a useful tool in some poses where extra support is needed.
If you’re not sure what to wear for yoga, most women prefer leggings or tracksuit bottoms and a couple of layers on top. For men, shorts and a t-shirt will do.
My name is Simon, I’m a qualified (and insured!) yoga teacher. During the class I demonstrate each pose or sequence and then talk you through what you need to do whilst you practice it. I’ll also come round and make some adjustments to your poses when you’re practicing them.
